Blxst grew up on the east side of Los Angeles, a place he credits with giving him a sense of pride and the confidence to trust himself. Inspired by artist-producers like Pharrell, Kanye West, and Raphael Saadiq, he built his sound by producing his own music and learning to bet on himself. Through the wins and the failures, he learned to stay connected to why he started in the first place.

Some of Blxst’s favorite memories of LA are tied to food: chili cheese fries, burritos, tacos, and mornings when the neighborhood tamale lady would stop by his family’s house. Food was a way for his family to bond and for different people and cultures throughout his community to come together. That connection has stayed with him: a belief that food, like music, can tell a story, create shared experiences, and bring people closer together.
